Relaxed Museum

Yate Heritage Centre

Relaxed Museum welcomes visitors, usually on the last Thursday of every month from 1pm until 4pm.

Discover our handling collections and photographs from the 1950s and 1960s. Everyone welcome. Refreshments. This month's theme is Toys and Games.

Relaxed Museum is a new, free of charge and inclusive heritage, arts and culture service for visitors with additional needs, such as those living with dementia, autism, or other neurodivergent people, along with their personal assistants, friends or family.

Visitors are welcome to move around the galleries and garden at their leisure, to handle artefacts, have exclusive tours of exhibitions and archives, and engage with volunteers over free refreshments in a quiet and welcoming space.

Yate Heritage Centre is an accessible building with a ground floor gallery, first floor mezzanine gallery and research area and a community archive filled to the rafters with fascinating local history. The centre features a stairlift to the first floor gallery, and parking at the rear. We are centrally located in Yate, across the road from Yate Shopping Centre with many cafes, health and leisure facilities, shops, and great public transport links to support visitors. Why not make a day of it?
