Hobbs House bread fights poverty
Hobbs House Bakery has teamed up with charity FareShare to put their unsold bread to work. FareShare tackles two of this country’s biggest problems, food waste and food poverty, by connecting businesses with people who need quality food. Hobbs House Bakery's famous overnight dough breads, spelt soda breads and multi-award winning organic Sourdoughs (most of which are actually best on day 3) are now being enjoyed in and around Bristol where food poverty is being tackled.
Until the BSE crisis, any left over Hobbs House bread was snaffled up by local pigs. Changes in the law now prevent this amicable process and since then, any surplus has been composted at an industrial worm farm.
